| The setting sun often awakens a new landscape of wild life activity, one that is carefully watched by the eyes of predator, scavenger and prey... My recent work "Nightlife/Xintiandi" is a contemporary portrayal of the intrinsic animal interactions between people in today's urban environment.
The main piece is a mural depicting the diversity found within a street cafe. There are eight additional portraits that segregate the scene into smaller habitats.
All models were volunteers selected and photographed in Shanghai, using strobe lighting and a Canon EOS 5D digital camera. Each model was separately photographed in a studio space arranged by Franklin Peppermint, using digital technology to arrange the furniture and characters. The background was captured from an assortment of locations in Xintiandi, Shanghai.
The 200x600 cm mural was Inkjet output over vinyl canvas. The individual portraits are 104x74 cm, digital C-prints mounted on Sintra board with UV lamination.
